CHEN: P1 international, a UK supercar club, offers its members a ‘car for every occasion’ from an Audi Q7 to a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Lets see how they run: STORY: If you can’t afford to buy your favourite luxury sports car, you could always rent one. British owned P1 international has a fleet of luxury sports car worth more than 11.7 million USD. But you have to be a member. The cost for a years membership and the joining fee starts at around 33000 USD. Jim Hart, has been a member for two years. [Jim Hart, P1 International Member]: ”I like to try the cars out for one or two days and then if I do, I tend to use them when we go away for a longer period, say for a weeks holiday.” Driving a seriously expensive car requires your driving to be up to scratch. P1 insist on members completing a road handling session before taking out their first car. A typical member will be able to enjoy an average of 50 to 70 days driving per year. Michael Breen set up P1 so that sports car aficionados can appreciate and enjoy fast cars without the hassle of ownership. The average member is a man in his forties who works in London’s financial district. But the current credit crunch hasn’t had a negative impact on Breen’s business.
