1971 Oldsmobile 442 W30 Road Test filmed in 1972 at what is believed to be Grattan race track in Michigan Of the 1304 Olds 442 convertibles built in 1971 only 110 were W30s and only 32 were 4 speeds like this one. SOMEONE SENT ME A MESSAGE THAT THE CAR IN THIS VIDEO HAS SURVIVED THE YEARS AND IS TODAY ONE OF 11 DOCUMENTED 71 W30 4SPEED CONVERTIBLES OF THE ORIGINAL 32 MADE. Car and Track narrator Gordon “Bud” Lindemann (born August 22, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois — 1983) was a pioneer in motor sports broadcasting. Lindemann graduated from high school in 1940. He joined the United States Coast Guard during World War II, and was stationed on the USS Eastwind in the North Atlantic. While in the service, Gordon met his future wife Kay and they were married on February 9, 1945. Lindemann worked briefly in radio in Boston following the war before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1946. “Big Bud” (another nickname) then became actively involved in motor sports in the mid-1950s as an announcer at the now-defunct Grand Rapids Speedrome. He later worked at the Berlin Raceway and the Kalamazoo Speedway until the mid-1960s. In 1964, while working for the WZZM-TV broadcasting company, he developed a program called “Autoscope”. The show featured local races as well as some national events. “Autoscope” became a local success, and in 1967 Lindemann expanded by forming his own production company, “Car & Track Productions”, owned by Lindemann himself and operated by many of his own family …
1950 Crosley Hot Shot Wht
This was Powell Crosley’s idea of a sporty car! This guy was ahead of his time..probably noticed how British sports cars had a fledgling fan base here in the US He decided this little car could compete…it had disc brakes, but there were problems with rust, and they were replaced with drum brakes. The little four had stamina…and after Crosley stopped producing cars, it was used as a compressor for commercial refrigeration systems. Crosley produced refrigerators for the home, radios and was into broadcasting. An interesting guy!

1963 Ford Thunderbird Convertible – Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars
Originally brought to market in response to Chevrolet’s Corvette, the Ford Thunderbird was promoted as a “personal luxury car” that just happened to be very sporty. This campaign, combined with sticker prices lower than Corvette’s, brought tremendous success for the Thunderbird through 1955 to 1957. The rousing popularity of the Thunderbird prompted Ford executives to broaden it’s appeal. The all new Thunderbird for 1958 was a larger four-seater car that retained the sleek sport styling of it’s first generation predecessor. The third generation Thunderbird for 1961-1963 was very futuristic and unlike anything else on the road. The tonneau cover, which hides the rear seats, is rare today as it was an expensive option. But it’s availability completes the 61-63 T-bird convertible as among the most striking automobiles produced to this day. www.cool-cars-video.com 1963 Ford Thunderbird Convertible – Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars
