Commenting on the first appearance of the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart at the Detroit show since 2007, Matthias Mueller, President and CEO of Porsche AG said: “We are back in Detroit with a clear message: Porsche further extends its competencies when it comes to performance and efficiency. The Porsche 918 RSR impressively demonstrates the passion of our engineers and designers for developing the world’s most advanced and best looking sports cars.” This auto show in the traditional venue of Detroit, nicknamed “The Motor City”, is regarded as a leading international forum for trends and opinions at the beginning of the year. In this setting Matthias Mueller underlined the growing demand for Porsche, not only in the US, but also on a worldwide basis. The momentum on the product front resulted in an order intake by the end of last year that increased by nearly 50 percent to more than 110000 vehicles. Customer deliveries for the calendar year were up over 25 percent to more than 95.000 cars. An immaculate 1994 Toyota Supra Turbo, presented by D&M Motorsports. Hosted by Chris Moran from Automotive Media Group. “Where’s the wing?” a co-worker jokingly shouted from across the Orlando Sentinel parking lot as I pulled into a parking space in this week’s test car, a gleaming white Toyota Supra. Our test Supra, an excellent but very expensive automobile, is one of those in-your-face cars. It wore an optional wing-like appendage on its rear that seems bigger than anything this side of a 767 jumbo jet. Because the wing is so large, I felt very self-conscious driving the Supra. It seems to scream out: LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! After driving the Supra for a week, I discovered many people couldn’t resist using the wing to start a conversation. (A family member asked if laundry could be hung on it.) Anyway, my colleague has a hip but quirky sense of humor, and I consider him fairly knowledgeable about cars. So I played a little game with him. ”How much do you think this car costs?” I asked. Honda seems to start playing with the super sports car, the evidence after the Honda NSX is now launching its new product the Honda HSV 10 GT. The design is like a super sports cars another, very sporty!! If you are a fan of Ferrari or Lamborghini, you definitely will like as well with this car. The engine was also given a very powerful energy-based V8. Developed in parallel with the outgoing NSX race car in Japan’s Super GT touring car series, the new Honda race car has been approved for competition use next year–apparently the Super GT regulations have a loophole allowing an automaker to campaign a car in the series that’s “production feasible” but not in production–and we now have all the official details. Renamed the HSV-10 GT (Honda Sports Velocity), Honda’s new race car is packing a 3.4-liter V-8 engine developing more than 500 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent rearward via a Ricardo sequential manual gearbox that will also be adopted by Nissan’s and Toyota’s race cars in the series and the whole thing weighs in at just 2400 pounds.
