MINI Cooper S–Chicago Cars Direct HD

2007 Mini Cooper S test drive and walkaround with Chris from Chicago Cars Direct Technically, the Mini Cooper falls into the compact hatchback or convertible category, but this British icon, resurrected by BMW, really belongs in a class of its own. Its teacup-sized dimensions and unabashedly cute silhouette have made it arguably the most recognizable vehicle in the world. The Mini Cooper hatchback gets a redesign for 2007, and its current incarnation is the best yet. The changes made to its exterior are subtle, with Mini wisely leaving the car’s classic styling intact. The 2007 Cooper hatchback is just over 2 inches longer than its predecessor; crash test standards called for a slightly longer nose and taller hood, but these changes are all but invisible, having been balanced by tweaks made elsewhere to the car’s proportions. Weight reduction measures have also kept the car’s curb weight in check. The biggest revisions take place within the 2007 Mini Cooper hatchback’s cabin. The central speedometer is bigger, and is now home to the car’s radio controls and display. Many of the car’s controls have been relocated, and the layout is now more user-friendly. The center stack has been narrowed; as a result, the foot wells are roomier and more comfortable for those with larger feet. Overall, the hatchback’s interior boasts a cleaner, more upscale look. Both Cooper hatchback trims get new engines. The Cooper S hatchback is now powered by a turbocharged engine that generates 172

  • CaptainAvril says:

He’s good, but you’ve got to be kidding me.

  • ministryofp4in says:

nope not kidding my friend.. lol that guy just shoves his opinion down ur throat..

  • CaptainAvril says:

That’s why he’s so popular, it’s somthing different. People love it. Lol, it does take some getting used to, though.

  • mrjost55 says:

he does good reviews but he’s very biased(no criticism) – I’m guessing this is a dealership so that explains it. Also it’s way too informative for Top Gear, that’s why Clarkson is the soul of that show.

very informative review on the mini tho chris. I had no idea that they changed from supercharged to turbocharged. You quite possibly just saved me from looking like an idiot in a future car conversation lol.

  • chicagocarsdirect says:

That’s what I’m here for…and BTW, you’re wrong about Dave, he’s Dangerous alright, but he seems to have an entourage of woman that I could only pray for (except for my wife, of course). I guess that’s what you get for being a good guy!

  • usageee says:

The R56 is a little too refined over the R53 if you ask me. It feels too detached from the driving experience than the previous model.

  • Chingonshushu says:

i agree… but sadly some ppl cant see to see that

  • ahtcv2 says:

Same engine with the peugeot 207 RC (PSA-BMW engine)

  • leparditas says:

can you say that it means BTW ?

  • whygodrums10 says:

This guys totally wrong. R53’s are much better. I had a 07 mcs loaner and it was too refined. Plus the engine sounded terrible compared to the first gen
